### The G20's AI Regulation Problem

The US is pushing G20 countries towards lighter AI rules, arguing that governments should use existing laws where possible instead of creating a new rulebook for every AI application. The proposal has backing from major technology companies.

For companies building AI, this difference is becoming increasingly important. Regulation can determine how quickly a product reaches the market, what data it can use and how much compliance sits behind every deployment. But the cost of getting the balance wrong runs both ways: excessive rules can slow useful technology, while weak safeguards can make adoption harder for businesses and consumers.

The G20 debate is therefore becoming a question for the AI industry: how do you regulate the risks without regulating away the opportunity?

Nvidia is buying

### Hugging Face for $12.93 billion

In one of the biggest AI acquisitions yet, the deal gives Nvidia a much stronger position in the open-model ecosystem, with Hugging Face's platform used by more than 18 million developers.

*   **Crusoe** raised more than **$3 billion** at a **$30 billion** valuation, as the AI data-centre company expands its infrastructure business.
*   **iPronics** raised **$125 million**, with **Nvidia** among the investors, to develop photonic networking chips for AI data centres.
*   **Nscale** committed **$3.5 billion** worth of computing capacity to **Figure**, giving the humanoid robotics company access to large-scale compute for training and development.
*   **Moonshot AI** confidentially filed for a **Hong Kong IPO**, after its **Kimi K3** model gained traction since launching in July.
*   **OpenAI** is preparing a bigger push into **legal tech**, working with legal software providers to let lawyers handle workflows such as contracts and legal research directly through **ChatGPT**.
